Tell us a little about yourself:
I tell anyone who will listen that I finally have “my perfect job”. As Clinical Director for CentrePointe I get to do two things that I am passionate about…counseling and helping professionals develop their skills. I spent 35 years in my “first” career at the University of Maryland as an Administrator. For most of that time I was also pursuing my “second” career as a therapist. Since the Summer of 2017 I have the privilege of bringing both those careers together in my current role at CentrePointe.
I have been married to, Karen, my awesome wife of 31 years and together we have 3 amazing grown sons. If I had the chance, I would go fishing every day, but I settle for a few times a year. My other love is reading, which I do often, and I don’t even need a boat.
How do you like to spend your free time?
This past Fall our youngest son started college, so Karen and I are officially “empty nesters”. We have embraced this new adventure by taking some short trips and gone on some brief adventures. We hope to do more as the weather warms up!
Where is your favorite place in the world?
The Beach…any beach!
What’s the last book you read?
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
What’s your favorite movie?
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy…I know that’s actually three movies but you can’t pick just one.
What’s your favorite meal?
Gumbo! I love to make it…and eat it!
Who inspires you?
My Mentor and good friend, Brian Woodward. He is the wisest and most humble man I know. He loves the Lord and his family with both a fierce passion and a tender heart. He also loves to fish…which is a great quality to have as well.
Use only three words to describe yourself:
Encouraging, Caring and Curious.
What inspired you to become a counselor?
Being told by friends that I helped them by listening to them. And to be honest, I wasn’t very good at math, so a science gig was out of the question.
What’s your favorite part of being a counselor?
Being a part of someone’s healing journey.
What’s the hardest part about being a counselor?
Having to come close enough to others pain in order to help them.
What was your proudest moment as a CPC Counselor?
When I finally received my LCSW-C license. It was the end of a very long and winding road, so it felt great to have arrived.
Use only three words to describe CentrePointe Counseling:
